SICKNESS!!!! Mojo110 - SSS27

Hello everyone. Happy Thursday. Hard to believe Saturday is Halloween already!! Well it has been a crazy week at my house. My 4 1/2 year old has been home since Tuesday with the lovely Piggy Flu...oh sorry I guess we are supposed to call it H1N1 now...ha ha. Thankfully she hasn't had it too bad, but trying to keep her away from the other girls in NOT easy. Clorox wipes are my favorite right now. I have been wiping down everything, and I think I wash my hands about 5000 times a day. My girls did have the H1N1 vaccine, so I am convinced that is why her case is so mild. This illness thing is crazy though. Kids are missing a week of school at a time!
Well I was able to escape for sanity reasons last night to my stamp room. I have felt so trapped in the house!!!!! I wanted to try to get a couple challenges done with week. So here is 2 of them I was able to get done last night. The first one I used the Mojo Monday Sketch this week.

I just love this gingerbread set from TAC. It is called gingerbread fun. This wasn't my original plan for this. I was going to put a house on here too, but it was too big. So you will be seeing the house on another card soon...since it is all colored and stickled already. I stamped the tree and gingerbread man on white CS, and colored them using colored pencils. I added some liquid pearl to the tree as ornaments, and crystal stickles to the buttons on the man. The ribbon I found on sale at a LCS awhile back, and couldn't' resist it. The greeting is from the TAC set trendy greetings. I stamped it on white CS, and punched it out with a scalloped circle. I added some red ink to the edges to add some color to it. The background was supposed to look like a candy cane. I used my brayer and masked part of the CS and used red on the brayer for the rest. When it was done, I liked it but thought it kinda looks like a Friday's restaurant tablecloth...lol. My next card I used the Sweet Stop Sketch this week. I used this digi image from Sweet 'n Sassy that I colored a couple weeks ago. The fun part of digi images is being able to re-size and play with them. This is actually the same image, but I re-sized it and printed it smaller too. I colored both images the same, then cut them out and layered them. The smaller one I folded up the wings a little to add a 3-D effect. I just thought it looked neat. I layered it onto a peach colored CS that I ran through the cuttlebug...multipletimes...haha. I have a small embossing folder that I liked for this card, but it wouldn't cover the whole thing, so I had to keep moving it and putting it through the machine again. It turned out pretty good though. The sentiment I used in the oval is from TAC ordinary greetings set. The ribbon is also from TAC. The brown background layer is from Papertrey Ink. I added a brown flower to the corner as well.

That is all for now. I am hoping to go downstairs again tonight. I have been struggling to get downstairs though...between the sickness and I am now having neck pains again. Last year on Halloween I was in a pretty bad car accident. My girls were all in the car, but thank GOD they were fine. Me however...I saw it coming, and so therefore I tensed up and messed up my neck and back. My neck has started bothering me again recently, so it is hard to bend over my table to color and piece my cards. I have been stretching it and heating it, so hopefully that too goes away soon. It is always something!

Happy Halloween!!!!

Belli Guest Designer CBC 77

Hello everyone. I am posting today with a special honor. I was asked to be a guest designer this week for the Creative Belli Blog! This is such an honor to me. I am so excited to be a part of this great blog this week. Be sure to stop by the blog and check out all the creations from the very talented design team.

This weeks challenge was sponsored by Sherrod Studios. Kim from Sherrod Studios provided us with these great images from the "Harvest Blessings" stamp set. The challenge from the Creative Belli Blog this week is to use raffia, or twine on your card. Don't forget the basis behind the Belli Blog is to use items you already have in your stamp room, or house. I found some raffia that I had from an old craft project I did when I was teaching Sunday School. Here is what I came up with.

Isn't the pilgrim image adorable?!!!! I colored the image with colored pencils, and added some yellow stickles to the buckles on the shoes and hat. I layered the image onto some yellow CS, to help bring out the yellow on the buckles. The patterned paper I used is some that I purchased from the Target $1 spot awhile back. I used an oval punch to punch the sentiment, and layered it onto a yellow scalloped oval. I used a light blue CS from a mono blue pack I purchased from TAC as my base. I then added some raffia along the bottom, where I normally would have used some ribbon. What a fun thing this raffia is...who knew??? I think it looks great with fall/harvest cards, and hope to use it some more...since I found a whole bunch in the basement. I love the thought of using up things I have laying around. Last I added a couple eyelets to the upper right corner.

Well, that is all I have for today. Thanks so much for stopping by, and don't forget to stop by the Creative Belli Blog, and play along this week.

Happy Harvest, and a Halloween Lunch Note. MOJO109

WOW...what a day. I woke up starting my day with a headache, and it just got worse from there. For the first time in a LONG time I actually took a nap today. I did the horrible mom thing, and turned on the TV for the little one (who wouldn't rest with me), and took a nap. At least it helped me feel somewhat better for the evening activities, and I still got some of the stuff on my To-do list done. Well I have a couple cards for you tonight. One is for this weeks Mojo Monday sketch, and the other is a little Halloween lunch note I "whipped up".
I made this card using the Mojo sketch for this week. Be sure to go HERE to see the sketch, and link your own card to play along this week. The pumpkin is from the TAC set Give Thanks. I just love this set, so many cute fall stamps in this set. I colored it in with watercolor crayons, and used a brown marker to trace over the vines. I layered it onto a brown CS rectangle. I used the "Happy Harvest" sentiment from the TAC Trendy Greetings set, and stamped it onto the TAC DC paper from the set Tuscany Spice. I layered that onto a scalloped circle in a light brown color. The ribbon is from the Target $1 spot. The background paper is the same TAC DC paper as the sentiment circle.

I started to make this for a challenge, but didn't think it was "spooky" enough. So I decided to make a little lunchbox note to use for one of my DDs' lunch. They LOVE getting little notes in their lunches. The little hedgehog is from the TAC set Hedgehog Halloween. The sentiment is also from that set. I colored the image with marker.

That is all for today. Thanks so much for stopping by!

A little Christmas Penguin....experiment

Hi everyone. Hopefully it is Monday morning when you are first getting a chance to read this. I am doing a little experiment today. I am hoping it works...I am trying to set the post up today (Sunday), and have it post on Monday morning.

Well I made a little Christmas card today. Here it is.

I used the penguin from the TAC set Perky Penguins. I stamped him on white CS, and colored in his beak and feet orange. I colored the tree an pine green color and added some green distressed stickles to it. I stamped the image again onto some PP also from TAC DSC set Winterberry. I used that to paper piece the hat and scarf onto him. I added some white liquid applique to the ball and brim of the hat as well. I ink distressed the edges (I have been doing that a lot lately...I guess I like the look of it right now...ha ha.). The sentiment is from the TAC set I Trendy Greetings...which is a great set. It has sooooo many different greetings in it, and many different fonts. I used a piece of the same paper collection I used for the scarf and hat for the background. I layered everything together, and added a little bow and brad in the bottom corner. Here is a close-up of the "fluffy" scarf and hat.Well that is it for now. I am hoping to be back this week with some more things to look at. Thanks for stopping by!

Recycling Fun -SSS26

Hello all! What a crazy week! On Thursday we got the dreaded letter home from school about lice in the classroom. I went a little nuts...ha ha. Even though my kids were cleared, I still decided to take some preventive measures. I cleaned all blankets and sheets, washed coats, and then scrubbed my children and loaded them up with hairspray. Since apparently the lice don't like hairspray. On Friday when they got home, I gave them both a once over the make sure they didn't catch anything at school that day. Of course on Friday I also sent them to school looking like ballerinas with buns in their hair...lol. Such a mess! Well they are both fine, but I am still going to "armor" them up for school on Monday too. Now that I have you itching your head...I have a card I made for the Sweet Stop Sketch Blog. This week there is a twist to the sketch, and what a fun one this was. Korin provided us with another great sketch, but you had to use recycled stuff on your card. After checking out all the design teams great samples, I came up with a plan, and here is the final results.I used the penguin from the Sweet 'n Sassy set "Waddle I Do?". I stamped him on white CS and cut it out in a circle. Here is where I started using the recycled stuff. My daughter's school just finished the wrapping paper sale, as some of you may know, there is usually some "samples" of the papers in the back of the catalog. So I dug the catalog out of the recycling papers, and decided to use those. Glad I caught it before we went and did our running around this morning, because we took all the paper to the recycling dumpster today! First I took one piece and stamped on it with staz-on so I could paper piece the scarf. Here is a closer look. Next I used another recycled piece of wrapping paper to layer the penguin onto. The blue snowflakes in the upper left, I stamped on wrapping paper and embossed in white. I created a background piece using the same snowflake stamp (which is from one of the PWP sets from The Angel Company swirly seasons), and embossed those in glitter white embossing powder. The sentiments are actually one stamp that I used a marker to color in just the part I wanted so I could separate the sentiment onto the 2 separate pieces of CS. The middle strip of paper is also another piece of recycled wrapping paper.

The whole recycling idea was a lot of fun. Make sure you check out with the Sugar Babies on the Sweet Stop Blog used to create their cards! Some VERY cool ideas! Oh, and since this is a sketch with a twist week, it also means there is a contest. One participant will be chosen to win some digi stamps from Sweet 'n Sassy. Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have a fantastic weekend.

Fall Tree CBC76

Happy Wednesday. I have a quick card for you today. I made this for the Creative Belli Blog challenge. The challenge was to create something with a fall or Thanksgiving theme, but it must include a leaf. Here is what I came up with.

I used the SU set "Season of Friendship". I used various fall colored inks to add the leaves. I ink distressed the edges, and layered it onto brown CS. Along the bottom I hand wrote "Give Thanks!". The little leaf in the corner I stamped and embossed in gold. Well that is it for today. Thanks for stopping by!

A plane, a snail, and some DIGI FUN!!!! MOJO108, SSS25, CCC61

Hello all, sorry it has been awhile since I posted. My creative mojo has just been bla. Well, I feel it may be coming back....HOORAY!!!! So I have 2 cards for you tonight. Both cards I created using digi stamps. I have had a few of these, and have been wanted to use them, but the printer ink has been out. My DH had a paper due, which means we got ink! So I was finally able to try these. Both digi images are from Sweet 'n Sassy. Korin has some great digi images available to purchase, plus she is giving a FREE image away on Thursdays! She also provided a great Q & A section about digis on her sight, so check it out HERE.

My first card tonight is using the Mojo Monday sketch this week. (MOJO108) The image is from the Sweet 'n Sassy digi set "Soar Above". I colored the plane in a Red, white, and blue "motif", so I used papers to go with that. I layered the plane onto some cloudy looking paper the I actually got from my 6 year old's scrapbook kit she had. I used a star punch to cut out 1 red and 1 "cloudy" star. I layered those onto the red CS strip. The next paper was some paper I made a while back using the shaving cream technique. I also added a set of r,w, & b brads to the top.
My next card I made using the Sweet Stop Sketch this week. I used the snail digi image from the Sweet 'n Sassy digi set "Snail & Friend".
I colored it in using water color crayons...which I discovered is NOT the best way to color in digis! As you can also see from the photo...I was kinda on a purple kick. I layered the snail image onto a purple circle. The patterned paper is from The Angel Company's A little whimsy collection. I added some stitching to this image as well for the Cupcake Craft Challenge this week. Which was to use buttons and stitching. This was the first time I have ever really sewed onto a card. Here is a close up of the stitching I did.

I pierced the paper first, then used some purple thread to add the stitches. I added some little purple buttons in the upper corner as well.

Well that is all the cards I have for today. I have been working like crazy to get the scrapbook I have been working on done as well. I only have like 3 pages left, which means this will be the first scrapbook I have ever really finished! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Dino Puzzle Fun

Hello everyone! Sorry I have been MIA all week. Every once in awhile I loose the creative bug. Well this is one of those weeks. That and I have been crazy busy trying to get everything finished for the wrapping paper sale at my daughters' school. Another case of me not being able to use that 2 letter word..."NO". Anyway, I went down to throw some laundry in tonight, and decided to visit my stamp room. I was able to get a couple pages of the scrapbook I am working on done as well as this....A little dino puzzle! I used a giant dinosaur stamp I purchase at my LSS, and stamped him onto the pre-cut puzzle pieces. The puzzle I purchase many many moons ago when I was teenager. I used to do some stamping back then and took a break from it while in college and early on in my marriage. I am so happy I have taken the hobby back up. It is so relaxing to stamp! I colored in the dino with markers, and used a sponge to create the background. Not my best coloring job, but it was still fun to make. I wrote my little one's name on the bottom, since I made the puzzle for her. She was so excited when I showed her. She sat right down to do it. Here is a couple shots of my happy little girl doing her puzzle.

Well, that is it for now. Hopefully the creative bug comes back to my house soon. I do miss my escapes to the basement to stamp. Have a great LONG weekend, and happy Columbus Day to all!

World Card Making Day...Part 2 - SSS24

Hello again. I hope you were able to find some time to create today. I have 2 more cards for you today. The first is just one I made for the fun of it, and the second was for The Sweet Stop Challenge. Without further ado...
For this card I used the doodlebug set from TAC. I stamped the butterfly and paper pieced it with the colored papers. The colored papers are actually papers I made using the shaving cream technique. What a fun, messy thing to play with...and really who knew you could use shaving cream to decorate paper! I added some liquid pearl (pink) to the body and crystal stickles to the antenna. The background paper is from TAC set A little whimsy. I layered the butterfly using dimensionals, and added the dew drop butterflies.

This card I made for the Sweet Stop Sketch this week. (SSS24) I actually started this card for a Facebook WCMD challenge, and ended up using the sketch to put it all together. The sentiment and cornucopia are from the TAC set give thanks. The leaves are from a SU set fall flair. I wanted to use all gold and purple...fall colors. I used a purple base and layered the gold CS onto it. The next layer, I ran some purple CS through the cuttlebug, and lightly ran the versamark ink over it. I then embossed with gold. The next layer is a purple CS with various leaves and acorns embossed in gold. The sentiment was stamped on purple CS, and embossed with a light purple powder, and punched with the oval punch. The final layer is the cornucopia embossed in gold and layered onto gold CS. I used a corner punch on this layer as well. Well that is it.

Thanks so much for stopping by and seeing my WCMD creations. Again, I hope you had a chance to stamp today also!

HAPPY WORLD CARD MAKING DAY!!!!

Hello everyone. I am so excited to have our own little card maker's holiday! I was able to get a couple cards made this morning, and start a 3rd. We have a b-day party to go to soon, then I hoping to hit the stamp room again tonight. I also plan on "celebrating" by working on my Christmas cards tonight. They are all stamped, it is just a matter of coloring the images now. The coloring part takes awhile when you have 50 to do. Anyway, I am just going to post the photos today, and not give all the boring details of the how-to. Hopefully I will be back later with a few more cards to show you.

Owl Birthday Card

Hello all. I took a few minutes to sneak down to the stamp room today. My older girls had a 1/2 day of school today, so they all kept each other busy while I went down to "change laundry"...haha. Anyway I thought I would share one of the 2 cards I made today. I actually made this for a contest on Facebook. Here it is.

I used the owls from the TAC set be square. I colored them in using watercolor crayons, and added some stickles to the eyes after coloring them yellow. I punched them out with a scalloped square and layered onto the TAC Winchester DSP squares. For the base, I started with cream CS, and layered the dark purple rectangle on top of it. I used a stipple brush to add some "details" to the background. I used 2 shades of brown and orange with the stipple brushes. Then I used the TAC set kinderbet (retired) to add the word "LOOK". The "whoooooooo's" is from the TAC set whoooo (it was a special set a few months back). The ribbon is also from TAC. On the inside I hand wrote "having a birthday!" with a brown marker.
Well that is it for today. In case you didn't know...Saturday October 3rd is World Card Making Day! So take a few minutes to enjoy some card making fun tomorrow. I am hoping to get a few minutes to "change laundry" tomorrow....haha. Have a great weekend. Thanks for stopping by.

Snoopy Halloween and a Bug! - CBC75, CCC59

Hello, and happy Thursday. I made these cards last night, but just couldn't get the correct lighting for the photos, so I am posting today. My first card today is from the Creative Belli Blog 75. The challenge this time was Halloween colored bling or glitter. This included DSP, brads, glitter, etc...anything you have on hand with Halloween colors. Since the idea behind this blog is to use supplies you already have, I decided to use a stamp that I have had "laying around" for at least 15 years. Sad I know...lol. Anyway...here is what I came up with.

First I stamped the Snoopy stamp (which I have had FOREVER!) onto white CS. I colored him in, and added some white fun flock to him. I punched him out using a circle punch, and layered him onto a bigger circle punched from some candy corn paper that I have had for a couple years. I got that paper from Target...I am so glad to finally being using some of this Target Dollar spot paper. I just had to have it when I saw it, and never used it. Anyway, I added a piece of the same PP to the bottom of the orange CS base, then attached Snoopy too. The separate candy corns are another stamp that has been around for years. I stamped it with orange ink, and added some crystal stickles for some bling. I also added some crystal stickles to the PP along the bottom. Last I stamped the sentiment which is from a Hannah Stamps set. Here is a couple close ups of the fun flock, and the 3-D candy corn.

My second card today is for 2 different challenges. The first challenge is the Cupcake Craft Challenge 59, which was "cute as a bug"...pretty self explanatory...use a bug. The second was my LSS blog, use torn paper on your card. Here is what I came up with.
The ladybug image is from High Hopes. Not sure of the name, since I stamped the image at my friend's house a while back. I colored the image in, and added some red stickles to the dress, and diamond stickles to the antennas. I added some red eyelets to the center of the wheels also. I layered the image onto some red bases black magic paper. I torn the edges, and sanded a little to bring out some red on the front of the CS. I layered that onto some red CS which I also tore. I stamped some ladybugs from the TAC set doodlebugs on the base too.
Well thanks for stopping by today.
Jessica
