I was able to squeeze a couple projects in tonight. We took our girls to the local amusement park tonight. We have season passes, so we go like once a week, but tonight was the first time we hit the water park this summer. Everything was going great until my 6 year old went on the big water slide. My DH took the older two on the "big kid" stuff while I had the little one in the wading pool. Well, I guess there are two "big slides", and the nice lady at the top didn't tell us they were really different, and one was more intense than the other. So my poor 6 year old did her first time on this thing, the mat slipped out from under her, then when she got to the bottom, she went under. My kids really don't know how to swim (very sad I know), so she struggled for a minute. The lifeguard was right there of course, and swept her up. She was traumatized though, and that was the end of the fun. Of course it seemed like forever to her being under the water. Scary I am sure for her. Well, anyway, we got home and I was able to get a couple projects in before bed time for me. So here they are.
This first project I created for the
Creative Belli Challenge this week (CBC71). The challenge was to create something using wood. Since I took my girls to craft time at my LCS today, I picked up these really cute garden stakes. I happen to purchase a really cute Ladybug stamp set while at CHA last week from Papertrey Ink. I stamped the base in red, and overlay in black. I added some little flowers to the stake part in a darker shade of purple. I kinda thought I would use it as a bookmark, but I guess it could be a garden stake.
week of challenges. I do love to play along though. The challenge this week was to find something that inspires you and make a card using that inspiration. So I saw this ad while flipping through a magazine at my mom's house last night. It is a little hard to see, but it is a paint ad. I loved the different color combos on it. There are actually 4 color combos on here, and I do plan on using the other ones another day. This is the one I used today.
As you can see the colors are an orangish color, brown, and "pebble white". So here is the card I came up with...I used the orangish color for the base. I traced an owl shape onto it along the "seam". He actually has a seam along his left wing. I then stamped an owl onto a brown oval from the TAC set Artsy Owls. I added some white color to him using a white gel pen, and some liquid pearl for his beak. I also added some googly eyes for dimension. I layered some PP under him that I got from Papertrey Ink (chocolate remix is the set name). For the "big" owl I used some felt leaves stickers for eyes and added googly eyes. The beak is drawn on with liquid pearl. I also added some stitched look to the large owl by using the while gel pen around the edges. On the inside I wrote, "What's Whooo?".
Last thing to share tonight is just another shower prize I made for the baby shower that is fast approaching.
I used a 4x6 magnetic acrylic frame, used TAC DP...Miss Moxie. I found the calendar template on SCS HERE. I started with Sept. 09- Dec. 2010. I added a small post-it notes, and made a matching RSVP pen.
Wow...that is a lot tonight. Thanks so much for stopping by.
