A box and a few challenges. MOJO103, SSS20, CCC56

Hello everyone, and happy Tuesday! Hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend. We had a bit of craziness, but it was fun too. My girls were in a wedding on Sunday, and they looked ADORABLE, so that means we had rehearsals and all that to go with it. Well, anyway I wanted to try to get a couple challenges in today. So I created a card and a box today.

My first project is for the Mojo Monday Blog 103 and the Cupcake Craft Challenge 56. I used the sketch from the Mojo blog, and the color challenge from Cupcake blog. The colors for this challenge were red, white, and blue. Very patriotic for this holiday weekend! Here is what I came up with.
I used the SU set Cheep Talk for the branch, the birdy, and the sentiment. The red polka dot background paper is from Papertrey Ink. I stamped the branch, then put the little birdy on it. I added some candy cane red stickles and white liquid pearl to the birdy. Then I layer the white CS onto red CS. The blue CS strips were actual some scraps from my Christmas cards I have been cutting. The ribbon was just some ribbon I had in the ribbon drawer. All was layered onto a white CS base.

My next project tonight was going to be a card, but ended up a box. I used the sketch from the Sweet Shop Blog, and here is what I came up with.
Like I mentioned I was going to make a card, but wanted some kind of crazy folds. Some how when I got all the base scored, I realized I had the base of a box. So I went with it! The base is cream CS. I then scored a slightly larger piece of red CS. The apple background paper is from a set I purchase in the Target dollar spot last year. The little pie is from a digi stamp from Sweet and Sassy. It had a cherry on the top of it, but I cut that off when I trimmed it, and attached an apple from the BG paper instead. I layered the trimmed pie onto cream CS, then red CS. I used my CM oval cutters to cut the ovals from cream and red CS. I added some little buttons in red and green, and stickles to the pie image. The words, I used a rolling alphabet stamp to create. I thought the little box would be cute for a little mini pie, or some other little sweet fall gift!
If you are interested...The base CS is 8x8 and the top CS is 8 1/2 x 8 1/2. The Base is scored at 2" and 6" then rotate the cardstock and score again at 2" and 6". The turn the CS diagonal and score diagonally at the corners, but only to the previous score lines. Then fold, and glue. The Top is scored @ 2 1/4 and 6 1/4, turn and repeat. (if you want the lid to be a little looser, you could also score at 2" and 6 1/2". Turn the CS diagonal and score the corners only until the previous score lines. Sorry if this is not super clear. I have never really written a tutorial before, so it isn't my forte. I am better at showing then explaining...haha.
That is all for today. Tomorrow my oldest goes back-to-school, then Thursday my middle daughter starts school. They are sooo excited, mom however is still so-so about it all. We had such an awesome summer together this year.
